In 20 years, people might look at us and say, “Isn’t it funny that they thought cell phones and computers were necessary to be in constant communication. And that they thought the Internet was a necessary conduit for that.”
In 20 years people will probably have realized that cell phones, computers, and the Internet simply allow us to do something better. Something that we’ve always been able to do. We’ve never been separate, one from another – that is a great illusion. Those devices merely helped us unlock the connection we all have with one another.
An invention doesn’t make it possible to be so connected, as much as it gives us permission to experience a connection that’s always been possible. And that connection, I predict, have no limit. All we need are more devices and innovations to give us even more permission to lose our illusions of separation.
